Meals were very comfortable with Mr Mohan, venkatesh and Saravanan. Hospitality best I’ve experienced so far. Also very friendly concierge Mohammed who ensured all our needs were met and shared local delights. We will definitely come again.

I stayed at Taj West End in room 1110 from 1st May to 2nd May, 2024. The first biggest positive point about them was that they agreed to pick me up from my residence in Bengaluru instead of an airport transfer. In the past I have seen hotels not agreeing to drop/pickup from anywhere except the airport but thanks to Taj West End, they happily agreed to it. The ride to the hotel was smooth . Upon arrival, i noticed that the hotel was extremely crowded . Lots of guests were checking out . Now, as far as I know, many 5 star hotels have a staff member who would come up to you and assist in check in so you don't have to go to the desk for check in. Sadly, Taj West End doesn't have this which meant I had to wait for sometime to get an opportunity to check in. They don't even have welcome drinks ! Even their cheaper business version Vivanta offered me a welcome drink upon arrival but this hotel didn't . Quite strange . Check in was smooth but as I arrived early there weren't any rooms ready but thanks to the reception guy, he sped up the process and within 10 mins I had a room ready . Good job there . He took me to my room 1110 which is a Taj club room but I think he was a little busy so he didn't explain much about the room . Usually the person who accompanies you explains what all is there in the room, where they are placed and what all is chargeable/ complimentary. Sadly , my host didn't . Only upon enquiry he said what was chargeable etc . My room was pretty big and clean but looked slightly dated. The bathroom looked new and big but had some minute issues like a loose fitting in the shower area. Usually such small things can be ignored any day but this being a 5 star hotel , such small issues stick like a sore thumb. Another issue was that they had no spare combs in the washroom. Usually such hotels do keep combs as a part of the washroom kit but all they had was millions of toothbrushes kept instead . Thankfully I had my own comb . Coming to the hotel, it's a heritage property and I went around clicking pictures although I faced challenges due to tight security in the hotel (RCB team was present ). It's actually a pretty vast property and you need to go around to realise it. I had a complimentary 60 mins spa service. I availed it and it was pretty good ! Also I availed their Salon service and even that was pretty good. The man (from Bihar ) who did my haircut was a nice gentleman, giving some nice advice on how my hair should be cut and even objecting to certain advice that I gave which he felt was wrong from his experience. I liked this part and in the end I got a very good haircut. Hi-Tea was at the club lounge and the tea and snacks there were decent , nothing extraordinary though. Coming to the restaurant, Machan. During my lunch , the hotel was very crowded due to the labours day holiday and the staff seemed a bit under pressure. They didn't serve water to me. They never came to my place to ask if I needed anything, but they seemed to do the same for the other fancy dressed families and couples. Was I getting ignored because I looked shabbily dressed (i was in my home cloths ) or did I look too young to be fitting in this hotel? Hence, I had to get up from my seat and personally go to the staff to ask them for some requirements. I noticed staff attending couples and families around me again and again but completely ignoring me . The dinner staff was miles better. They served me water , took my order quickly and kept asking if I needed anything else. All of this was missing from the lunch staff . Yes they were under pressure but I have seen overcrowded cheaper restaurants where waiters would still serve water at least no matter how much under pressure they are. Food in both times was decent although the pani puri in lunch was pathetic and dessert in dinner was pretty ordinary. The rest of the dishes i took were good. The spread however felt a little lesser than what I have seen in other 5 star hotels. Housekeeping always ensured my room was kept organised . Also I never took room service so no comments on them. Check out process was smooth as well. Overall, a pretty decent one day stay but there were issues which I pointed out in my review. Lunch staff needs to treat all guests equally even if the person looks like a beggar or wearing poor man's cloth because in the end , no poor man stays here.

Great stay - If you have time go for the heritage tour to discover the place! Mohammed showed us around the whole area of the hotel and shared his great knowledge of the history of the taj west end with us. Especially the old roof garden on top of the second oldest building and the rainforest area are beautiful.
